Windsor Castle
Windsor Castle was one of three official residences of The Queen and was home to the Sovereign for over 900 years. The Castle is the oldest in continuous occupation until Queen Elizabeth II died in September 2022. The imposing towers and battlements of the Castle loom large from every approach to the town, creating one of the world’s most spectacular skylines. No other royal residence has played such an important role in the nation’s history.
The Castle opens at 9.45am daily throughout the year. From March to October admission continues until 4.00pm and the Castle closes at 5.15pm. From November to February, the castle still opens at 9.45am, admissions cease at 3.00pm and the Castle closes at 4.15pm. During the winter months the Semi-State Rooms are included in the visitor route. Standard admission charges apply.
